For ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) devices, the centrifugal blood pump is a core component. It requires low shear force, good hemolysis performance, excellent flow characteristics, simple structure, and ease of manufacturing.

Solution

By integrating hemolysis calculation functions in TurboTides, a unique meridional contour and blade shape were designed. Extensive CFD calculations were performed to ensure that blood experiences minimal trauma and the fastest velocity while being pressurized by the impeller.
